Privacy Policy

Plain English, no lawyer-speak: what OBX Fishing Charters collects when you use obxcharter.com, why we collect it, who sees it, and how to get it deleted.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to obxcharter.com and to any enquiry you send us through it — the form, the phone number, or a text message. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean OBX Fishing Charters, the operator of this website.

OBX Fishing Charters is a lead-generation service, not the company that performs the work. Enquiries and calls made through this site are referred to an independent local provider, and we may be compensated for that referral. We are not the service provider and do not perform the work ourselves.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you submit the form on this site, we receive whatever you type into it. Today that form asks for:

  • Your name
  • Phone
  • Email
  • City / area
  • Briefly describe the job

Some fields are optional — you only have to give us enough to get back to you. Please do not put sensitive details (payment card numbers, government ID numbers, health information) into the message box; we do not need them and we do not ask for them.

Calls and text messages

If you call or text the number on this site, we receive your phone number, the time of the call or message, and what you tell us. We keep a record of the enquiry — including a summary or transcript of the conversation — so we can respond to you and so nothing gets lost between the call and the job.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this one records basic technical information when you visit: the pages you view, the site or search that sent you here, your approximate location (derived from your IP address, at city level — not a precise position), and your device and browser type. Where analytics are enabled, this is collected by the tools described below.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not currently load any third-party analytics or advertising tools, and sets no analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, this page will be updated first and you will be asked to accept before anything is stored on your device. The only browser storage we use is a small preference that remembers whether you chose light or dark mode.

Why we use your information

  • To answer your enquiry — call you back, quote the work, and schedule it.
  • To keep a record of who asked for what, so a follow-up call has the context.
  • To send the job details to the local provider who will actually carry out the work.
  • To understand which pages and search terms bring in enquiries, so we can improve the site.
  • To meet legal, tax and record-keeping obligations, and to deal with disputes.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send marketing emails or texts to people who only asked for a quote.

Who we share it with

  • The local service provider handling your job. Enquiries and calls made through this site are passed to the independent local provider who covers Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Duck, Corolla. They get your name, contact details and what you told us about the work, because they cannot quote or schedule without it.
  • The companies that run this site for us — website hosting, form delivery, and the phone and text messaging service. They process the information only to provide those services to us, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
  • The analytics providers listed above, where those tools are enabled and you have accepted.
  • Anyone we are legally required to share it with — for example in response to a valid legal request, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry records — form submissions, call and message logs — for as long as we need them to respond to you and to keep an accurate record of the work, and normally no longer than 24 months after your last contact with us. Records we have to keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons are held for the period the law requires. Analytics data is retained according to the settings of the tools listed above, and is aggregated rather than tied to your name.

Your choices, and how to delete your information

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. There is no charge and you do not need to give a reason. The fastest way is to call — ask for your enquiry to be deleted and we will take care of it, normally within 30 days. You can also send the request through the contact page.

Note that once we have passed your enquiry to a local provider, they hold their own copy under their own policy — we will tell you who they are so you can ask them directly. To stop analytics, decline the cookie prompt or block cookies in your browser.

Children

This site is intended for adults arranging work on a property. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, call us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

This site may link to pages we do not control — a map provider, a manufacturer, a review platform. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not cover them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. Material changes to how analytics or advertising tools are used will also reset the cookie prompt, so you get asked again.
